Description
Mattermost Plugins versions <=11.6 10.18.11 11.3.6 11.6.5.0 fail to sanitize error responses from the OpenAI API before logging, which allows a user with access to server logs or support packets to obtain a valid or partially reconstructable OpenAI API key via inspection of mattermost.log entries generated during authentication failures. A vulnerability exists in Mattermost Plugins versions through 11.6, 10.18.11, 11.3.6, and 11.6.5.0, where error responses from the OpenAI API are not properly sanitized before being logged. This oversight allows users with access to server logs or support packets to retrieve a valid or partially reconstructable OpenAI API key by examining the mattermost.log entries created during authentication failures.
Users can upgrade to Mattermost Plugins version 11.8.011.7.311.6.510.11.20 to address this vulnerability.
