Description
A vulnerability was found in SourceCodester Simple POS and Inventory System 1.0. The impacted element is an unknown function of the file /user/search.php. Performing a manipulation of the argument Name results in sql injection. The attack is possible to be carried out remotely. The exploit has been made public and could be used.
A SQL injection vulnerability has been identified in SourceCodester Simple POS and Inventory System version 1.0. The issue arises in the file '/user/search.php', where the 'name' parameter is manipulated and directly interpolated into a SQL query without proper escaping. This vulnerability allows remote attackers to execute UNION-based payloads, extracting sensitive information from the database, such as administrative credentials. Additionally, a reflected cross-site scripting (XSS) vulnerability is present, as the application echoes database values into the HTML response without proper output encoding.
It is recommended to use prepared statements for database queries to prevent SQL injection. Additionally, validate and sanitize user inputs, and implement output encoding to protect against XSS attacks.
