Description
A security flaw has been discovered in D-Link DIR-X1860 and DIR-X1860Z up to 1.0.2.220120.165402. The impacted element is an unknown function of the file /ubus of the component routerd. The manipulation of the argument passwd_set results in improper access controls. The attack must originate from the local network. The exploit has been released to the public and may be used for attacks.
A vulnerability allowing unauthenticated users to change the administrator password has been identified in the D-Link DIR-X1860 and DIR-X1860Z routers, all hardware revisions, running firmware versions prior to V1.0.7.260821.161908. The issue arises in the routerd component, specifically within the ubus JSON-RPC management interface. Exploitation of this vulnerability allows an attacker to gain administrative access by invoking the passwd_set method without proper authentication. The vulnerability requires local network access to exploit.
Users should upgrade to D-Link DIR-X1860Z Firmware V1.0.7.260821.161908. For the DIR-X1860, which has reached end of life, no update is available.
