Description
Cotonti through 1.0.0 fails to validate anti-CSRF tokens in the ratings plugin AJAX handler, allowing attackers to forge ratings on behalf of authenticated users. Attackers can craft malicious pages that auto-submit POST requests to modify stored rating data when visited by logged-in users.
A cross-site request forgery (CSRF) vulnerability has been identified in the Cotonti web development framework, specifically in versions through 1.0.0. The issue arises in the ratings plugin's AJAX handler, which fails to validate anti-CSRF tokens. This oversight allows attackers to forge ratings on behalf of authenticated users. By crafting malicious pages that automatically submit POST requests, attackers can modify stored rating data without the user's knowledge.
Users are advised to update to Cotonti version 1.0.0 or later, where this vulnerability has been addressed.
