Description
HUBzero CMS through 2.2.32 contains a path traversal vulnerability in project file upload handlers that allows authenticated project members to write arbitrary files outside the project repository. Attackers can supply traversal sequences in upload parameters to write files to attacker-chosen paths with web server privileges, potentially enabling code execution.
A path traversal vulnerability has been identified in HUBzero CMS versions through 2.2.32. This vulnerability exists within project file upload handlers, allowing authenticated project members to write arbitrary files outside the designated project repository. By supplying traversal sequences in the upload parameters, it is possible to manipulate file paths and write files to locations chosen by the attacker, all while leveraging the privileges of the web server. This behavior could potentially be exploited to execute code.
Users can update to HUBzero CMS version 2.4.6, where this vulnerability has been patched.
