Description
adm-zip versions 0.5.14 through 0.6.0 fail to apply zlib decompression output limits when ZIP entries declare zero uncompressed size. Attackers can craft malicious ZIP archives with highly compressible entries declaring zero size to exhaust memory and cause denial of service.
A denial-of-service vulnerability has been identified in adm-zip versions 0.5.14 prior to 0.6.1. The issue arises because the library fails to enforce zlib's decompression output limits when ZIP entries declare a zero uncompressed size. This allows attackers to create malicious ZIP files with highly compressible data that, when decompressed, can consume excessive amounts of memory, leading to process crashes.
Users can update to adm-zip version 0.6.1 or later, where this vulnerability has been addressed.
