Description
A security vulnerability has been detected in cosmicstack-labs mercury-agent up to 1.2.0. This impacts the function checkShellCommand of the file src/capabilities/permissions.ts of the component Shell Command Permission. The manipulation leads to incorrect privilege assignment. The attack may be initiated remotely. The exploit has been disclosed publicly and may be used. The project was informed of the problem early through an issue report but has not responded yet.
A vulnerability in Cosmicstack Labs Mercury-Agent versions through 1.2.0 allows for incorrect privilege assignment in the Shell Command Permission component. The issue arises because the function checkShellCommand in permissions.ts fails to properly validate commands before execution. This flaw can be exploited remotely, leading to unauthorized actions being performed without the necessary permission prompts. The vulnerability has been publicly disclosed and is present in the normal chat-driven tool path of the application.
Users can update to version 1.2.1 or later, where this vulnerability has been patched.
