Description
A security flaw has been discovered in D-Link DIR-823G 1.0.2B05_20181207. The impacted element is the function strcpy of the file /HNAP1/SetStaticRouteSettings of the component HNAP1. The manipulation of the argument PAddress/SubnetMask/Gateway results in stack-based buffer overflow. The attack can be launched remotely.
A stack-based buffer overflow vulnerability has been identified in the D-Link DIR-823G router, specifically in the HNAP1 SetStaticRouteSettings function. This issue arises in version 1.0.2B05_20181207, where the function improperly handles IPAddress, SubnetMask, and Gateway values by using unbounded strcpy operations to copy these XML inputs into fixed-size stack buffers. The vulnerability can be exploited remotely, leading to memory corruption and crashes in the web management process.
