Description
A vulnerability was identified in GPAC up to f1219cde. Affected is the function gf_sm_dump_command_list of the file scene_manager/scene_dump.c of the component MP4Box. The manipulation leads to reachable assertion. The attack must be carried out locally. The exploit is publicly available and might be used. A vulnerability exists in GPAC versions prior to abi-16.23 within the MP4Box application, specifically in the scene manager's dumping function. This vulnerability leads to a reachable assertion failure, causing the application to crash. The issue arises when MP4Box processes a crafted MP4 file, which introduces malformed data that the BIFS scene parser cannot handle correctly. As a result, an internal command list management function encounters an unexpected state, triggering the assertion. The vulnerability must be exploited locally, and a public exploit is available.
Users are advised to upgrade to GPAC version abi-16.23, where this vulnerability has been fixed.
