Description
A security vulnerability has been detected in GPAC up to f1219cde. Affected is the function gf_node_list_add_child of the file scenegraph/base_scenegraph.c of the component MP4Box. Such manipulation leads to null pointer dereference. The attack can only be performed from a local environment. The exploit has been disclosed publicly and may be used. A null pointer dereference vulnerability has been identified in GPAC versions prior to abi-16.23. The issue arises in the MP4Box component, specifically within the 'gf_node_list_add_child' function of 'scenegraph/base_scenegraph.c'. The vulnerability can be exploited locally by manipulating the embedded scene graph of a crafted MP4 file, leading to a segmentation fault and process crash. This exploitation occurs during the application of certain scene commands, where the parent node is not properly validated before use.
Users are advised to upgrade to GPAC version abi-16.23, where this vulnerability has been fixed.
