Description
A security flaw has been discovered in lenve vhr 1.0-SNAPSHOT. This affects the function HrInfoController.updatePass of the file /hr/pass of the component Password Update Handler. The manipulation of the argument hrid results in improper authorization. The attack can be executed remotely. The exploit has been released to the public and may be used for attacks. The vendor was contacted early about this disclosure but did not respond in any way.
An improper authorization vulnerability has been identified in Lenve VHR version 1.0-SNAPSHOT, specifically within the Password Update Handler component. The issue arises in the HrInfoController.updatePass function, where the hrid parameter is not properly validated against the session user. This flaw allows any logged-in user to change another user's password, provided the old password is known. The vulnerability can be exploited remotely, and a public exploit is available.
To address this vulnerability, the application should ignore the client-supplied hrid and instead use the id of the authenticated user.
