Description
The rtMedia for WordPress, BuddyPress and bbPress WordPress plugin before 4.7.12 does not check ownership before changing the privacy level of an activity and its attached media, relying only on a nonce shared with every logged-in user, allowing users with a subscriber-level account or above to make another user's private activity public or hide it.
A vulnerability exists in the rtMedia for WordPress, BuddyPress and bbPress plugin in versions prior to 4.7.12. The issue arises because the plugin does not verify ownership before altering the privacy settings of activities and their associated media. It relies solely on a nonce that is shared with all logged-in users. This flaw enables users with a subscriber-level account or higher to change another user's private activity to public or vice versa.
Users are advised to update the rtMedia for WordPress, BuddyPress and bbPress plugin to version 4.7.12 or later.
