Description
The Add User Autocomplete WordPress plugin before 1.2 does not perform any capability or nonce check before creating a pending site-membership invitation carrying a caller-supplied role, allowing any authenticated user, such as a subscriber, to grant themselves the administrator role on a multisite installation.
A privilege escalation vulnerability has been identified in the Add User Autocomplete WordPress plugin, affecting versions prior to 1.2. The issue arises because the plugin does not implement proper capability or nonce checks before generating a pending site-membership invitation with a user-supplied role. This flaw allows any authenticated user, such as a subscriber, to assign themselves the administrator role on a multisite installation.
Users are advised to update the Add User Autocomplete WordPress plugin to version 1.2 or later.
