Description
UI misrepresentation in Downloads in Google Chrome prior to 153.0.8010.36 allowed a remote attacker leveraging social engineering to bypass system access restrictions via a crafted HTML page. (Chromium security severity: Medium)
A UI misrepresentation vulnerability has been identified in Google Chrome versions prior to 153.0.8010.36. This vulnerability allows remote attackers to bypass system access restrictions through social engineering, using a crafted HTML page. The issue arises from a logic flaw in the DownloadRequestLimiter, which manages download permissions. The flaw enables an origin to release queued downloads from another origin, creating a cross-origin download permission bypass.
Users can update to Google Chrome version 153.0.8010.36 or later, where this vulnerability has been fixed.
