Description
Missing authorization in FileSystem in Google Chrome prior to 153.0.8010.36 allowed a remote attacker to bypass system access restrictions via a crafted HTML page. (Chromium security severity: Medium)
A missing authorization vulnerability has been identified in Google Chrome versions prior to 153.0.8010.36. This vulnerability allows remote attackers to bypass system access restrictions through a crafted HTML page. The issue arises in the FileSystem component, where standard web origins can exploit a permission policy flaw to access the 'syncfs' mount point. This access enables unauthorized writes to a user's Google Drive via the deprecated SyncFileSystem API, without requiring user interaction or extension privileges.
Users should update to Google Chrome version 153.0.8010.36 or later, where this vulnerability has been fixed.
