Description
UI misrepresentation in UrlFormatting in Google Chrome prior to 153.0.8010.36 allowed a remote attacker leveraging social engineering to spoof address bar via a crafted domain name. (Chromium security severity: Medium)
A UI misrepresentation vulnerability has been identified in Google Chrome, specifically in the UrlFormatting component, prior to version 153.0.8010.36. This vulnerability allows remote attackers to spoof the address bar by leveraging social engineering tactics. The issue arises from the improper handling of domain names containing the Katakana Middle Dot (U+30FB), which can visually mimic standard label separators when adjacent to digits or hyphens. As a result, crafted domain names can deceive users by resembling internal IP addresses or subdomains.
Users should update to Google Chrome version 153.0.8010.36 or later, where this vulnerability has been fixed.
