Description
Incorrect authorization in FileAPI in Google Chrome prior to 153.0.8010.36 allowed a remote attacker leveraging social engineering to bypass system access restrictions via a crafted HTML page. (Chromium security severity: Medium)
A vulnerability in Google Chrome's FileAPI component, present in versions prior to 153.0.8010.36, allowed remote attackers to bypass system access restrictions through social engineering. This was achieved by exploiting a logic error in how the browser handled file-backed blobs from contexts with invalid URLs, such as Fenced Frames. The flaw caused the browser to default to a high-privilege access level, bypassing Enterprise Data Loss Prevention (DLP) policies and allowing access to restricted local files.
Users can update to Google Chrome version 153.0.8010.36 or later, where this vulnerability has been fixed.
