Description
Missing authorization in ControlledFrame in Google Chrome prior to 153.0.8010.36 allowed a remote attacker leveraging social engineering to bypass system access restrictions via a crafted HTML page. (Chromium security severity: Medium)
A vulnerability in Google Chrome prior to version 153.0.8010.36 allows remote attackers to bypass system access restrictions in ControlledFrame contexts. This is achieved through social engineering, manipulating users into interacting with a crafted HTML page that exploits the vulnerability. The issue arises because File System Access (FSA) permissions for ControlledFrame guests are not properly enforced during clipboard paste or drag-and-drop operations. As a result, a guest can obtain profile-wide read access to files, leaking permissions across isolation boundaries intended to protect user data.
Users can update to Google Chrome version 153.0.8010.36 or later, where this vulnerability has been fixed.
