Description
UI misrepresentation in Passwords in Google Chrome prior to 153.0.8010.36 allowed a remote attacker to spoof UI elements via a crafted HTML page. (Chromium security severity: Medium)
A UI misrepresentation vulnerability has been identified in Google Chrome Passwords component, prior to version 153.0.8010.36. This vulnerability allows remote attackers to spoof UI elements by using a specially crafted HTML page. The issue arises because the 'OtpFieldDetector' component incorrectly aggregates one-time password (OTP) field detection across all frames in a tab, without verifying that the fields belong to the same origin as the main frame. As a result, an attacker can embed a focusable input in a cross-origin iframe to suppress Chrome's warnings about compromised passwords.
The vulnerability has been fixed in Google Chrome version 153.0.8010.36 by enabling a feature that restricts OTP field detection to the same top-level domain plus one, ensuring that cross-origin iframes cannot interfere with password management UI.
