CVE-2026-87497 Details
Description
Uninitialized resource in Codecs in Google Chrome prior to 153.0.8010.36 allowed a remote attacker to read memory inside the sandbox via a crafted HTML page. (Chromium security severity: Medium)
A vulnerability exists in Google Chrome in the Codecs component, prior to version 153.0.8010.36, that allows remote attackers to read memory from the sandbox. This is achieved through a specially crafted HTML page that exploits an uninitialized resource in the libjpeg-turbo image decoder. The issue arises when Blink's progressive JPEG decoding interacts with libjpeg-turbo's lossless decoding, leading to the unintentional leakage of uninitialized heap memory into a canvas element. This memory can then be accessed via the canvas's image data.
Users should update to Google Chrome version 153.0.8010.36 or later, where this vulnerability has been fixed.
