Description
UI misrepresentation in Browser in Google Chrome prior to 153.0.8010.36 allowed a remote attacker leveraging social engineering to spoof UI elements via a crafted HTML page. (Chromium security severity: Medium)
A UI misrepresentation vulnerability has been identified in Google Chrome, specifically in the Browser component, prior to version 153.0.8010.36. This vulnerability allows remote attackers to spoof UI elements through a crafted HTML page, leveraging social engineering techniques. The issue arises because the JavaScript optimizations page-action bubble, which informs users about V8 JIT permissions, can persist across cross-origin navigations. As a result, an attacker could trick a user into granting permissions to an unintended site.
Users should update to Google Chrome version 153.0.8010.36 or later, where this vulnerability has been fixed.
