Description
Information leak in Scroll in Google Chrome prior to 153.0.8010.36 allowed a remote attacker who had compromised the renderer process to leak cross-origin data via a crafted HTML page. (Chromium security severity: Medium)
A cross-origin information leak vulnerability has been identified in Google Chrome versions prior to 153.0.8010.36. This vulnerability allows a remote attacker, who has compromised the renderer process, to leak cross-origin data by exploiting an unchecked coordinate passing issue in the Scroll component. The flaw occurs when an untrusted cross-origin iframe sends extreme coordinates to manipulate the scrolling of ancestor containers in the parent frame. This manipulation is not properly clipped to the iframe's bounds, leading to a layout shift that is leaked back to the iframe, enabling the attacker to measure the dimensions of parent containers.
Users can update to Google Chrome version 153.0.8010.36 or later, where this vulnerability has been fixed.
