Description
Incorrect authorization in Browser in Google Chrome on on Android prior to 153.0.8010.36 allowed a remote attacker to bypass system access restrictions via a crafted HTML page. (Chromium security severity: Medium)
A vulnerability in Google Chrome for Android, in versions prior to 153.0.8010.36, allowed remote attackers to bypass the browser's popup blocker. This was achieved through a crafted HTML page that exploited incorrect authorization in the browser's handling of background window requests. The vulnerability arose because extension-related permission checks were omitted in the Android build, enabling web pages to programmatically open new tabs without user interaction. As a result, this could lead to unwanted tab spamming or potential phishing attacks.
Users can update to Google Chrome version 153.0.8010.36 or later, where this vulnerability has been fixed.
