Description
Improper quantity validation in Tint in Google Chrome on on Mac prior to 153.0.8010.36 allowed a remote attacker to potentially execute arbitrary code outside the sandbox via a crafted HTML page. (Chromium security severity: Medium)
A vulnerability exists in the Tint component of Google Chrome on Mac, prior to version 153.0.8010.36, due to improper validation of quantities. This flaw allows remote attackers to potentially execute arbitrary code outside the sandbox by crafting a specific HTML page. The issue arises because Tint's Metal backend miscalculates workgroup memory sizes for WGSL shaders, enabling attackers to bypass validation and exploit the vulnerability through the GPU process.
Users can update to Google Chrome version 153.0.8010.36 or later, where this vulnerability has been fixed.
