CVE-2026-86712 Details
Description
SiYuan before 3.8.2 trusts the attacker-writable text/siyuan clipboard MIME type and skips sanitization in the paste handler, allowing code execution in the Node-enabled desktop renderer. Attackers can craft malicious web pages that write to the clipboard, and when pasted into SiYuan, injected scripts execute with full Node.js access through the Electron main process.
A remote code execution vulnerability exists in SiYuan versions prior to 3.8.2. The issue arises because the application trusts a custom clipboard MIME type ('text/siyuan') that can be manipulated by attackers. When this crafted data is pasted into SiYuan, it bypasses sanitization and executes injected scripts with full access to Node.js, through the Electron main process. This vulnerability can be exploited by creating a malicious web page that writes harmful scripts into the clipboard, which are then executed when pasted into SiYuan.
Users can update to SiYuan version 3.8.2 or later, where this vulnerability has been patched.
