Description
A vulnerability was detected in Linksys RE7000 2.0.15. This affects the function platform_event_pingTest of the file /cgi-bin/json.cgi?PingTest of the component PingTest Handler. The manipulation of the argument pingTestIp/pingTestPktSize/pingTestTimes results in os command injection. The attack can be launched remotely. The exploit is now public and may be used.
A command injection vulnerability has been identified in the Linksys RE7000 v2 AC1900+ Wi-Fi Range Extender, specifically in the firmware version 2.0.15. The issue arises in the PingTest Handler component, within the function platform_event_pingTest, located in the file /cgi-bin/json.cgi?PingTest. The vulnerability allows for remote execution of operating system commands by manipulating the pingTestIp, pingTestPktSize, and pingTestTimes parameters. The server fails to properly validate or sanitize these inputs, enabling the injection of malicious commands that are executed with root privileges.
