CVE-2026-85658 Details
Description
The Paid Membership Plugin, Ecommerce, User Registration Form, Login Form, User Profile & Restrict Content – ProfilePress plugin for WordPress is vulnerable to arbitrary shortcode execution in all versions up to, and including, 4.17.2 This is due to the software allowing users to execute an action that does not properly validate a value before running do_shortcode. This makes it possible for authenticated attackers, with subscriber-level access and above, to execute arbitrary shortcodes.
A vulnerability allowing arbitrary shortcode execution has been identified in the ProfilePress WordPress plugin, specifically in versions through 4.17.2. This issue arises from the plugin's failure to properly validate user input before processing shortcodes, enabling authenticated users with subscriber-level access or higher to execute arbitrary shortcodes. The vulnerability is particularly relevant for the 'bio' field in the user profile.
Users can update to ProfilePress version 4.17.3 or later, where this vulnerability has been fixed.
