Description
The Formidable Forms WordPress plugin before 6.35 does not restrict who can set the identifier recording which user last edited a form entry, and relies on that identifier when deciding whether to strip HTML from stored entry values, allowing unauthenticated visitors to have markup rendered in the admin entry view that would otherwise be removed, and to attribute their submission to an administrator who never made it.
A content injection vulnerability has been identified in the Formidable Forms WordPress plugin, affecting versions prior to 6.35. The issue arises because the plugin does not properly restrict who can assign the 'updated_by' identifier, which records the user who last edited a form entry. This identifier is used to determine whether to remove HTML from stored entry values. As a result, unauthenticated users can inject markup that is rendered in the admin entry view, bypassing normal sanitization processes. Additionally, this exploitation can falsely attribute the submission to an administrator.
Users are advised to update the Formidable Forms WordPress plugin to version 6.35 or later.
