Description
Improper neutralization of special elements used in an OS command ('OS Command Injection') issue exists in Contec FX5000 series, FX4000 series, and FX3000 series. If this vulnerability is exploited, an arbitrary OS command may be executed by an attacker who can log in to the product.
An OS command injection vulnerability has been identified in Contec FLEXLAN series products, specifically in the FX5000 series, FX4000 series, and FX3000 series, all prior to specific fixed versions. This vulnerability allows an attacker who can log into the product to execute arbitrary OS commands. The issue arises from improper validation of input values, which could lead to unauthorized command execution, potentially causing data theft, data tampering, or execution of malicious programs.
Users are advised to update the firmware to the latest version that addresses this vulnerability. For FX5000 series, the fixed version is 1.12.00 or later; for FX4000 series, it is 1.14.00 or later; and for FX3000 series, it is 1.20.00 or later. The latest firmware can be downloaded from the Contec website. For SGA1000, the fixed version is 1.02 or later, and for EC1000 series, it is also 1.02 or later.
