Description
The Advanced Custom Fields: Extended WordPress plugin before 0.9.2.7 does not restrict the role submitted through its front-end user forms to the roles the form actually offers, and its safeguard against privileged roles is incomplete, allowing unauthenticated visitors to register an account with elevated capabilities and then escalate it to administrator.
A vulnerability in the Advanced Custom Fields: Extended WordPress plugin, affecting versions prior to 0.9.2.7, allows unauthenticated users to register accounts with elevated privileges. The plugin's front-end user forms do not properly restrict role submissions to the available options, and the existing safeguards against privileged roles are inadequate. This flaw enables users to gain elevated capabilities and escalate their accounts to administrator status.
Users are advised to update the Advanced Custom Fields: Extended WordPress plugin to version 0.9.2.7 or later.
