Description
A buffer overflow in the SBC_DecodeFrames() function of Bestechnic Co., Ltd BES2300 Bluetooth Audio SoC firmware v3.x and earlier and fixed in v.5.0 allows attackers to cause a Denial of Service (DoS) via sending a crafted frame.
A buffer overflow vulnerability has been identified in the SBC audio codec decoder function of Bestechnic BES2300 Bluetooth Audio SoC firmware versions through 3.x and earlier. This vulnerability allows attackers to cause a denial-of-service by sending a crafted frame. The issue arises from a time-of-check to time-of-use race condition, where the decoder improperly validates the size of incoming frames, leading to memory corruption and system crashes.
Users are advised to upgrade to BES2300 Bluetooth Audio SoC firmware version 5.0 / RC06 or later, which addresses the vulnerability by redesigning the SBC decoder to include proper bounds checking. For legacy users unable to upgrade, it is recommended to limit SBC decoding to trusted audio sources and consider disabling A2DP Sink functionality if not critical to business operations.
