Description
An issue in CrossWire Xiphos <= 4.3.2 allows a local attacker to execute arbitrary code via the src/main/url.cc and src/gtk/menu_popup.c components
A command injection vulnerability has been identified in CrossWire Xiphos versions through 4.3.2. This issue allows local attackers to execute arbitrary code by exploiting the application's D-Bus interface. The vulnerability arises in the 'show_separate_image' function within 'src/main/url.cc', where attacker-controlled image filenames are improperly sanitized before being passed to a shell command. The injected commands are executed with the same privileges as the Xiphos process.
The vulnerability has been fixed in Xiphos version 4.4.0 and later. Users should update to the latest version.
