Description
A format string argument mismatch in Netatalk 3.0.3 through 4.4.2 allows a remote authenticated attacker to cause a minor denial of service via crafted input that triggers incorrect format string processing.
A format string argument mismatch vulnerability has been identified in Netatalk versions 3.0.3 prior to 4.4.2. This issue arises from a logging statement that expects a string argument which is not provided, leading to a potential crash during logging under low-memory conditions. While this is not a practical attacker-controlled format string vulnerability, it could still cause issues in specific scenarios.
Users can upgrade to Netatalk version 4.5.0 or later, which includes the necessary patch. Alternatively, apply the CVE-2026-44059,CVE-2026-7835.patch to a Netatalk 4.4.2 source tree to hotfix the vulnerability.
