Description
The Rank Math SEO WordPress plugin before 1.0.277 does not verify that the metadata row being updated belongs to the object the user was authorised against, allowing users with the Author role and above to overwrite arbitrary post and user metadata, including that belonging to higher-privileged users.
A vulnerability exists in the Rank Math SEO WordPress plugin in versions prior to 1.0.277. The issue arises because the plugin does not properly verify that the metadata being updated belongs to the authorized object. This flaw allows users with the Author role and higher to overwrite arbitrary post and user metadata, including that of users with higher privileges. The vulnerability is particularly concerning as it can be exploited to manipulate important metadata, such as schema information or user roles.
Users are advised to update the Rank Math SEO WordPress plugin to version 1.0.277 or later.
