Description
The Rank Math SEO WordPress plugin before 1.0.277 does not perform a capability check when bulk metadata updates target taxonomy terms, and reuses the supplied object identifier across object types, allowing users with the Author role and above to modify the SEO metadata of terms they cannot edit and to overwrite the titles of posts belonging to other users.
A vulnerability exists in the Rank Math SEO WordPress plugin in versions prior to 1.0.277, where the plugin fails to perform proper capability checks during bulk metadata updates for taxonomy terms. This flaw allows users with the Author role and above to alter SEO metadata for terms they do not have permission to edit, and to overwrite the titles of posts belonging to other users. The issue arises because the plugin reuses object identifiers across different object types without adequate validation.
Users are advised to update the Rank Math SEO WordPress plugin to version 1.0.277 or later.
