Description
Mattermost versions 11.8.x <= 11.8.0, 11.7.x <= 11.7.3, 11.6.x <= 11.6.5, 10.11.x <= 10.11.20 fail to verify file deletion path which allows an admin with SAML system-console write permissions to delete arbitrary files outside the config directory from the server via the remove file endpoint.. A vulnerability exists in Mattermost versions 11.8.x through 11.8.0, 11.7.x through 11.7.3, 11.6.x through 11.6.5, and 10.11.x through 10.11.20. The issue arises because these versions fail to properly verify file deletion paths. This flaw allows an admin with SAML system-console write permissions to delete arbitrary files outside the configuration directory on the server, using the remove file endpoint.
Users can upgrade to Mattermost versions 11.9.0, 11.7.11, or 10.11.22 to address this vulnerability.
