Buffer Overflow vulnerability in Systerel S2OPC 1.7.3 allows a remote attacker to cause a denial of service via the LockedStaMac_ProcessMsg_DeleteMonitoredItemsResponse and SOPC_StaMac_NewDeleteMonitoredItems in the client wrapper DeleteMonitoredItems path
A buffer overflow vulnerability has been identified in Systerel S2OPC version 1.7.3. This vulnerability allows a remote attacker to cause a denial-of-service condition by sending a crafted 'CreateMonitoredItemsRequest' that includes an 'EventFilter' with two empty 'WhereClause' elements. The issue arises in the server-side handling of the request, where the implementation incorrectly processes the empty clauses, leading to a heap-based buffer overflow. This vulnerability is exploitable through a real OPC UA network request, causing a crash in the server process.
Users can update to Systerel S2OPC version 1.7.4, where this vulnerability has been fixed.
