Description
An issue in open62541 v.1.5.5 and before allows a remote attacker to cause a denial of service via the NodeManagement type-instantiation logic component
A denial-of-service vulnerability has been identified in open62541 versions through 1.5.5. The issue arises in the server-side NodeManagement type-instantiation logic, where a remote attacker can cause a stack overflow by creating a self-referential type-instantiation graph. This is achieved by manipulating ObjectTypes and their mandatory child objects, leading to uncontrolled recursion and a crash of the server process.
Users are advised to update to the patched version of open62541, where this vulnerability has been addressed.
