CVE-2026-6731 Details
Description
X.509 name constraint bypass via the Subject Common Name when treated as a DNS-type name. A certificate whose Subject CN violates an issuing CA's DNS name constraints could be accepted.
A vulnerability exists in wolfSSL's handling of X.509 name constraints, specifically through the Subject Common Name (CN) when interpreted as a DNS-type name. This flaw allows certificates that violate an issuing Certificate Authority's (CA) DNS name constraints to be accepted as valid. The issue arises in wolfSSL versions prior to 5.9.1.
Users are advised to update to wolfSSL version 5.9.1 or later, where this vulnerability has been fixed.
