Description
Exim before 4.99.5 allows directory traversal to access files outside of the spool area, and consequently gain privileges, because arguments related to queue-name are mishandled.
A directory traversal vulnerability has been identified in Exim versions prior to 4.99.5. This vulnerability allows unauthorized access to files outside the designated spool area, potentially leading to privilege escalation. The issue arises from improper handling of command-line arguments related to queue names, which can be exploited by local users with command-line access.
Users are advised to upgrade to Exim version 4.99.5, available for download from the Exim FTP site or the Exim Git repository. Instructions for verifying the digital signature of the release are also available.
