Description
Grav API Plugin versions before 1.0.10 fail to restrict write access to security-critical plugin configuration scopes, allowing authenticated users with api.config.write privilege to modify rate limiting and CORS settings. Attackers can disable rate limiting site-wide to enable credential brute-forcing attacks and reconfigure CORS policies to include attacker-controlled origins with credentials enabled.
A broken access control vulnerability has been identified in the Grav API Plugin, affecting versions prior to 1.0.10. The issue arises because the plugin fails to properly restrict write access to critical configuration areas, allowing authenticated users with the 'api.config.write' privilege to alter rate limiting and Cross-Origin Resource Sharing (CORS) settings. This vulnerability enables attackers to disable rate limiting across the site, facilitating brute-force attacks on credentials, and to modify CORS policies to include origins controlled by the attacker, with credentials enabled.
Users are advised to update the Grav API Plugin to version 1.0.10 or later, where this vulnerability has been addressed.
