Description
Elgg before 7.0.0 does not check image dimensions to prevent denial of service via a large avatar upload.
A denial-of-service vulnerability has been identified in Elgg versions prior to 7.0.0. The issue arises because the application does not properly check image dimensions, allowing users to upload large avatars that can cause out-of-memory (OOM) issues. This vulnerability could be exploited by uploading excessively large images, leading to resource exhaustion on the server.
Users can update to Elgg version 7.0.0 or later, where this vulnerability has been fixed. Instructions for updating can be found in the Elgg documentation.
