CVE-2026-64558 Details
Description
In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: s390/pkey: Check length in pkey_pckmo handler implementation Explicitly check the length of the target buffer in the pkey_pckmo implementation of the key_to_protkey() handler function. The handler function fails, if the generated output data exceeds the length of the provided target buffer.
A vulnerability in the Linux kernel's s390/pkey component has been addressed by introducing a buffer length validation in the pkey_pckmo handler. The vulnerability arose because the original implementation did not check whether the output data exceeded the capacity of the target buffer, potentially leading to buffer overflow issues. The flaw has been corrected by explicitly verifying the length of the data before it is copied to the buffer, ensuring that the handler function fails if the output exceeds the buffer's limit.
Users can upgrade to the latest version of the Linux kernel where this vulnerability has been fixed. Instructions for downloading the patched version are available on the Linux kernel's official website.
