CVE-2026-64464 Details
Description
In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: xhci: sideband: fix ring sg table pages leak xhci_ring_to_sgtable() allocates a temporary pages array and uses it to build the returned sg_table with sg_alloc_table_from_pages(). The error paths free the pages array, but the success path returns the sg_table without freeing it. This leaks the temporary array every time a sideband client gets an endpoint or event ring buffer. Free the pages array after sg_alloc_table_from_pages() succeeds. The returned sg_table has its own scatterlist entries and does not depend on the temporary array after construction.
A memory leak vulnerability has been identified in the Linux kernel's xHCI sideband implementation. The issue arises in the 'xhci_ring_to_sgtable()' function, which allocates a temporary array of pages to construct a scatter-gather (SG) table using 'sg_alloc_table_from_pages()'. While the error handling correctly frees the allocated pages, the successful execution path returns the SG table without releasing the temporary array, leading to a memory leak. This leak occurs each time a sideband client accesses an endpoint or event ring buffer. The vulnerability has been addressed by modifying the function to free the temporary pages array after the SG table has been successfully created, ensuring that the leaked memory is properly released.
The vulnerability has been fixed in the Linux kernel. Users should upgrade to the latest version where this issue has been addressed.
