Description
Certificate policy and RFC 8446 compliance concerns regarding the continued acceptance of SHA-1/MD5 in certificate processing.
A vulnerability exists in wolfSSL's certificate processing that allows the continued acceptance of SHA-1 and MD5 digests, contrary to certificate policy and RFC 8446 compliance. This issue can lead to the acceptance of weaker cryptographic standards in certificate verification, potentially undermining the security of certificate-based authentication.
Users are advised to update to wolfSSL version 5.9.1, which addresses this vulnerability. Instructions for updating can be found in the wolfSSL ChangeLog.
