Description
In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: igc: fix potential skb leak in igc_fpe_xmit_smd_frame() When igc_fpe_init_tx_descriptor() fails, no one takes care of an allocated skb, leaking it. [1] Use dev_kfree_skb_any() on failure. A memory leak vulnerability has been identified in the Linux kernel's igc network driver. When the function igc_fpe_init_tx_descriptor() fails, it does not properly free an allocated socket buffer (skb), leading to a memory leak. This issue was observed on an I226 adapter while testing frame preemption verification using ethtool. The vulnerability has been addressed by modifying the transmission function to release the skb memory in case of an error, preventing the leak.
Users can upgrade to the latest version of the Linux kernel where this vulnerability has been fixed. The specific commit addressing this issue is available in the Linux stable tree.
