This in turn acquires fs_reclaim. Fix this deadlock by using dma_resv_trylock() instead, dropping the subsequently unused passed wait-wound lock 'ticket'. Patchwork: https://patchwork.freedesktop.org/patch/723564/ [rob: fixup compile errors, replace lockdep splat with somethin ---truncated---
A deadlock vulnerability has been identified in the Linux kernel's DRM/MSM component, specifically in versions through 7.0.0-debug+. The issue arises on Snapdragon X1 devices under VM reclaim pressure, where a circular locking dependency can occur. The 'kswapd' process attempts to acquire a lock needed for reservation management while already holding a file system reclaim lock, leading to a deadlock situation. This vulnerability was introduced in a previous commit that changed the locking mechanism for VM management in the MSM graphics driver.
The vulnerability has been fixed in the Linux kernel. Users should upgrade to the latest version where this issue has been addressed.
