CVE-2026-63759 Details
Description
SurrealDB before 3.1.0 fails to enforce recursion depth limits in the type/kind parser when processing nested type annotations. Authenticated attackers can send queries with deeply nested type annotations to exhaust server memory and crash the process.
A denial-of-service vulnerability has been identified in SurrealDB versions prior to 3.1.0. The issue arises because the type/kind parser does not properly enforce recursion depth limits when handling nested type annotations. This flaw allows authenticated attackers to send queries with deeply nested annotations, such as 'array<option<array<option<...>>>>', which can exhaust server memory and crash the database process.
Users can upgrade to SurrealDB version 3.1.0 or later, where this vulnerability has been patched. For those unable to upgrade, it is recommended to restrict untrusted users from executing arbitrary queries or to disable untrusted access to the WebSocket '/rpc' endpoint.
