Description
A HTTP request smuggling and desynchronization vulnerability affects Kong Gateway Enterprise 3.4, 3.10, 3.11, 3.12, 3.13, and 3.14 series. The vulnerability is caused by a parsing flaw in Kong’s HTTP request processing pipeline when handling untrusted HTTP/1.1 traffic.
A medium-severity HTTP request smuggling and desynchronization vulnerability exists in Kong Gateway Enterprise versions 3.4, 3.10, 3.11, 3.12, 3.13, and 3.14. This vulnerability arises from a parsing flaw in Kong's HTTP request processing pipeline, specifically when handling untrusted HTTP/1.1 traffic. In standard deployments, there is no direct impact. However, in certain infrastructure configurations, this vulnerability could disrupt the request-response chain, potentially bypassing front-layer path-based access controls and allowing unauthorized requests to be executed within the body of a legitimate request on the same HTTP/1.1 connection.
Users can upgrade to Kong Gateway Enterprise versions 3.14.0.4, 3.13.0.5, 3.12.0.7, 3.11.0.12, 3.10.0.12, or 3.4.3.27, depending on their current version.
