Description
LibreOffice can import PICT images, which may be embedded in documents. An out of bounds read existed when importing an image that uses a colour palette. The palette index held in the image data was used without being checked against the number of entries the palette has, so an index past the last entry read memory outside the palette. In fixed versions the palette index is limited to the entries present.
An out-of-bounds read vulnerability has been identified in LibreOffice when importing PICT images that use a color palette. The issue arises because the palette index in the image data is not properly validated against the number of entries in the palette. This oversight allows an index to exceed the last entry, leading to memory being read outside the bounds of the palette. The vulnerability is present in LibreOffice versions prior to 26.2.5.
Users are advised to upgrade to LibreOffice version 26.2.5 or later.
